WHAT
IS AN ADU?
An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a small residential unit on a permanent foundation that provides additional housing on existing legal lots with a primary dwelling unit.
Also known as “granny flats”, “tiny homes”, or “cottages”, ADUs may be: new detached structures; attachments to existing primary dwelling units; conversions of a detached or attached garage; conversions of one or several rooms within the primary dwelling unit; or a combination of converting rooms and a new addition.
An ADU has its own living and sleeping areas, as well as a kitchen and bathroom. Minimum and maximum size regulations may vary by local municipality.

WHY BUILD
AN ADU?
Many of today’s homeowners are faced with the challenge of finding space to house additional family members with the desire to retain their own private living space.
Other homeowners are looking for ways to generate property rental income. Because buying an additional home is costly in today’s market, building an ADU on an existing property is an ideal solution.
WHAT CAN AN ADU DO FOR YOU?
01
HOUSING
An ADU can provide housing for your elderly parents, young adult children, or visiting guests.
02
INCOME
An ADU can provide income through property rental as a vacation home or Airbnb.
03
VALUE
An ADU can instantly increase your property value.
THE
ADU
PROCESS
If the process of building an ADU seems confusing or overwhelming, we can help you through it! From initial consultation, to drawing plans, to permitting, we will keep you involved in the process as we take care of the details and paperwork.
OUR SERVICE INCLUDES
PLANNING
Our team will meet with you to discuss your budget, goals, and needs, and outline the details of the ADU process from start to finish. We will visit your property and take the necessary measurements to start the design process.
DESIGN
We will work with you to design and complete the floor plans for your ADU. You may also elect to work with our interior conceptual design team to design a 3D floor plan. Hard and digital copies of your plans will be provided to you.
PERMITS
You cover the permit fees and we will take your plans through the permit process! Permitting can be tedious and time consuming, but we know the regulations and who to talk to. We will complete the paperwork, submit the forms, and follow up until your plans are approved.
NEXT STEPS
At the completion of our services you will have construction-ready plans in-hand and will be fully permitted to build. Next, you will need to consider two things to complete your ADU: (1) financing; (2) hiring a contractor.
Although you are under no obligation to hire our partner companies, we will provide you with referrals for your convenience.

WHY
CHOOSE
CC ADU?
With Central Coast ADU, you have more control over your ADU planning.
The majority of contractors are not certified to create construction-ready floor plans, which means they subcontract the task. This makes most contractors a middle-man between clients and their designers.
With Central Coast ADU, clients work and communicate directly with their ADU designer and permitting team to ensure that their plans and permits are completed on schedule, and to their satisfaction.
Once your plans and permits are complete, you have no obligation to a contractor, giving you the freedom to shop for a contractor that fits your budget and needs.
